Forest of Craft by Perspective
The fact that the distribution volume of lacquer decreased to 7% in 40 years, less than 1% compared to the Edo period, is just one phenomenon where the connection between our lives and forests has faded. In urban living environments, most of the things around us are far away and industrially made, so we meet and break up quickly with things, and it may be difficult to establish personal and intimate relationships. Keihoku, which is our home base, is a place of materials that supplied timber to build Heian-kyo. The “element” that created the shape of the city — from Keihoku to Kyoto, I want to give “shape” to the “foundation” of future life. I made a video of that feeling.
