Easily Blended, Less Likely to Show Brush Strokes

Urushi pigments include inorganic pigments such as mercury-based and cadmium-based pigments, which have been used for a long time, as well as organic pigments commonly referred to as “Shin Reiki Pigments.” Nowadays, the use of inorganic pigments has been declining, and the use of Shin Reiki Pigments has become more common.

Metallic pigments (inorganic pigments) are heavier in density, and when mixed with Urushi, they tend to settle within the coating, resulting in a more subdued colour. However, it can also be said that for the colour to show up well, the pigment ratio needs to be increased. Additionally, metallic pigments tend to create a smooth finish with fewer brush marks.

On the other hand, Shin Reiki Pigments are lighter in density, so they are less likely to settle. As a result, they offer the advantage of achieving vibrant colours even with a lower pigment ratio compared to inorganic pigments. However, users have reported that brush strokes tend to show more easily when using Shin Reiki Pigments.

While conventional products have been well-received due to their good colour development even with a small amount of pigment, there were requests from customers to create a “Shin Reiki Pigment that is less prone to brush strokes.” In response to this, we developed the “Shin Reiki Pigment,” which is specifically designed to reduce the appearance of brush marks.

The biggest feature of the Shin Reiki Pigment is its improved brush compatibility compared to traditional pigments.

Developed with the cooperation of pigment manufacturers as an OEM product, Shin Reiki Pigment maintains the characteristics of a Reiki pigment while being significantly less prone to visible brush strokes than conventional products. The typical pigment ratio for Reiki pigments is 30% to 50% by weight to Urushi, and naturally, the higher the pigment ratio, the more noticeable the brush strokes tend to be. When compared at the same ratio as conventional products, Shin Reiki Pigment offers superior fluidity, better brush compatibility, and as a result, fewer visible brush strokes. Many users have already noticed this difference. We encourage you to try it out for yourself.
